The DP World Tour Heads to Italy for the First Time
Italian Open Presented by Regione Emilia-Romagna
The penultimate event on the European Tour
The DP World Tour visits a new first-time venue this week at the Italian Open presented by Regione Emilia-Romagna, the penultimate event on the European Tour. The tournament will be held at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy, from October 13-16. This is the first time the DP World Tour has visited Italy since 2012, which was held at the Royal Park I Roveri Golf Club in Turin.
The Italian Open is one of the oldest tournaments on the European Tour, dating back to 1925. It has been won by some of the biggest names in golf, including Seve Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, and Rory McIlroy. The defending champion is Francesco Molinari, who won the tournament in 2019.
The Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is a challenging course that will test the skills of the world's best golfers. The course was designed by Jim Fazio and opened in 2000. It has hosted several major tournaments, including the Italian Open in 2005 and 2007.
The Italian Open is expected to be a close and exciting tournament. A number of top players are in the field, including Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay, and Viktor Hovland. The winner of the tournament will earn a spot in the field for the DP World Tour Championship, which will be held at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai from November 17-20.
