Winter Weather Forecast for Dallas, TX
Snowfall and Accumulation
According to the Dallas TX WinterCast, the city is expected to see a moderate amount of snowfall this winter. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated in late January and early February, with accumulations ranging from 2 to 4 inches. However, light snow is also possible throughout December and March.
Arctic Blast Brings Light Snow
An arctic blast that swept through the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Thursday, January 12, brought a light dusting of snow to the region. While the snowfall was brief and did not accumulate significantly, it provided a welcome respite from the cold and brought a touch of winter beauty to the landscape.
Lake-Effect Snow
The lake-effect snow off of Lake Lewisville likely contributed to DFW Airport seeing more than 1 inch of snowfall. This type of snow occurs when cold air passes over a relatively warm lake, picking up moisture and releasing it as snow when it reaches the colder air above the land.
